Dejan Kulusevski: Rising Like A Phoenix
Not a lot has gone right for Ange and the Spurs team since the start of the season, but Dejan Kulusevski isn’t one of them. Despite taking time to adjust to a new position, playmaking, the Swede has been immense in the last few weeks for Spurs. He is one of the most consistent players for Spurs this season, and it isn’t going unnoticed.
Whatever good Spurs have done offensively, the majority of the credit has to go to Kulusevski and, of course, Brennan Johnson. When the chips were down, Kulusevski stepped up and made the difference. Son has been in and out of the team due to his frequent injuries, and Maddison has struggled for form this season. Kulusevski has become the playmaker of the team in their absence.
Kulusevski has 5 goal contributions in the Premier League this season, but it isn’t just about the goal contribution; the Swede has worked his backside off for Ange and the team. He has popped up in every imaginable position. He has had so many good performances already this season and none better than him helping Spurs knock Manchester City out of the Carabao and also the recent thrashing of the reigning champions at their home ground.
Kulusevski looks like he has finally settled at the club. He finally looks comfortable, which is a big compliment because he was in and out of the team for some time in the last couple of seasons but now looks part of it. Ange might have finally unlocked the Swede, and how. Granted, not many people will be looking at Kulusevski currently, but he has been one of the better players in the League right now and is criminally underrated.
Going forward, Kulusevski needs a bit of help from his fellow talismanic players, Son and Maddison. The good news for Dejan is that both Son and Maddison looked outstanding in the recent thrashing of Manchester City. Spurs’ trident of Kulusevski, Maddison, and Son might just propel them to silverware this season, and Kulusevski will be hoping Son and Maddison can keep their form going.
It is a long season, but Spurs might finally have something to cheer about. Suppose Kulusevski can keep his current form going. In that case, Spurs are in a position to go far in every competition they are currently involved in, and people need to show more love to Dejan Kulusevski. Just because he is not flashy doesn’t mean he isn’t effective; fans will realize how important he has been in the coming weeks because he is the glue that has held this Spurs team together for the past several weeks.
